My teaching philosophy

Education is more than acquiring knowledge – it is the continuous interest in the world and how things work.  Education can open doors and one’s eyes to the world, gives students an opportunity to grow and develop, to experience new cultures and find themselves as a person, develop their skills and get a perspective concerning their future. It is the privilege of a teacher to further critical thinking and to motivate students to ask questions. Through that new inventions and innovations were developed, new approaches created.  

My teaching philosophy is that as a teacher I am also a lifelong learner and I will pass on my personal passion for education, learning and language. All learners contribute to a learning environment through their personal background and experiences – the learning process is mutual and enriches my and the students’ lives. All students' skills are unique and my role as a teacher is to foster the individual talents and to guide their interests by providing an all-inclusive learning setting and creating teaching materials that further the learners’ individual talents so that they can develop their full potential. I will show my students that being authentic, treating each other in a meaningful and respectful way is key to success – so that ideas will be shared and new things tried out. 

I believe that education and learning open doors and minds, so a teacher furthers students’ potential and help them to overcome difficulties. By providing input and state-of the art teaching materials based on students interests and abilities, e. g. presentations, hands-on activities, digital resources and use of media and self-paced learning. Different learning strategies and methods such as project-based learning will equip my students with the skills to ask questions and find answers beyond the obvious. My classes are student-oriented so that motivation and inquisitive learning is fostered in a modern and safe classroom environment.
